My new computer

Well, I finally did it....I finally bought a Mac computer again. I was in need of a new computer because mine has been slowly dying. I am a die-hard PC person. I have had an iMac before, one of those alien purple pod looking things. I absolutely hated the operating system. Easy to operate...yeah right! I know the ins and outs of a PC. I know where to find things and how to fix things. Macs? Not so much.

So...Adam and I were price shopping online and the best deal was an iMac. *sigh. With all of the rebates and offers that we got online, we couldn't pass it up. I have warned Adam that he better hope that I love my new computer because if I hate the Mac, he will NEVER live it down. Oh, in case you aren't aware, Adam is a die-hard Mac person. Honestly, the man should be getting a kick back from the company because he talks them up so much. He has sold a lot of Macs to people because of his knowledge and love for the brand.

Here is a picture of all the new stuff that my lovely FedEx and UPS men brought me. Yes, you do see Six mice in the picture. The five mice that are lined up were free. Each one of them has a $20 rebate. Wahooo! Free $100 right there. We are giving the mice to the theatre for them to use in the offices. The majority of the other programs had full rebates on them too.


So far I am not loving the Parallels program. It's doing something funky with my AOL and is starting to annoy me. Granted, it was a free program but STILL, it should work. Grrrrr
I am liking the speed for little things like playing Farmtown on Facebook. YES, it is a stupid game but I LIKE IT! The entire game is Flash and is much easier to play on the iMac...the 24" screen doesn't hurt either.

Easter 2009

It rained this year on Easter Sunday so the Easter Egg Hunt had to be inside. Adam hid my eggs downstairs and I hid his upstairs. It was fun trying to find the eggs around the house. I'm a tad competitive so I think I did a better job of hiding them and finding them. =)
Adam had the hardest time finding the ones in the kitchen. He literally looked right at them and didn't see them. Hehe.

Silver Dollar City

Wow, it's been a month since I have posted anything. A lot has happened so I will try to catch things up this weekend. For now I will post a few pictures from Silver Dollar City. I am only posting a few on here. For my friends on facebook, I am posting more in my albums.

For those of you who aren't familiar with SDC, it is the main amusement park in Branson. It has an "old-time" feel about it. Adam and I usually try and go at least once a year, normally at Christmas-time, to see the lights and have the Mint Hot Chocolate. Yummm. They also have GREAT bread at the bakeries and lots and lots of food. Oh, another great thing? We get in free. YES!

Throughout the year there are festivals going on. The first one of the season is always International World Fest. They have performers from all over the world performing in the various theatres around the park, as well as a lot of yummy food. Mmmmmm. Can you tell I'm hungry as I am posting this?

This year we went with the Wagners. They are a family that the brothers met while on tour in California....I think. They came out for a few weeks for a family vacation and a few of us went to SDC. It was a beautiful day and there were no crowds because we went in the middle of the week. Ya gotta love that. The longest line for a ride was about 10 minutes. Wahoo

Sony 700 Reader Review

Well....I've now had my new Sony 700 reader for about two weeks and I have mixed feelings about it. I'm always wishing I could create my own "thing" by mixing and matching features from different items to make THE PERFECT product.

The Sony 700 IS pretty cool. It has a touch screen that works similarly to the iPhone. The only difference is the fact that it isn't quite as sensitive and needs a tad more pressure. I like the fact that they did away with that ugly wheel button thingy. Yes, that is the technical term , "wheel button thingy". The smaller buttons are more convenient and look much better.

My favorite feature is the light. VERY COOL. It's great for reading late at night or in my car during my show. Because of the light and the new technology, the reader is twice as thick and twice as heavy. BOO!

The thing that is driving me insane and I that literally HATE is the glare. Ugh...huge glare on the screen that is virtually impossible to avoid. I have to keep tilting the screen to stop the glare. I think it is due to the fact that the glass is raised, in a shadow box type of way, so that the light can be used. *sigh* Honestly, I don't use my reader as much because of it. You can literally see your reflection in it and you just can't avoid being blinded.

My perfect reader would be as light as the Cybook, be able to read both PDF AND Mobipocket formats, have a light and touch screen and the look of the new Sony 700, OH... and would have NO GLARE!!!

Holy Strawberry Batman!

I thought I would take a picture of my huge strawberry. Teehee This is just one of them. I bought 4 plastic containers of them because they looked so yummy. The boxes were only $2 so frankly...I couldn't resist. I haven't seen strawberries like these since I left California 7 years ago. Now.....do I snack on them out of the box or do I make something with them? Hmmmm decisions decisions.

My cat is driving me insane!

Many of you have seen my videos of Chewie and think he is the cutest thing. In fact, some of you have told me that you would love a cat like him. Well....after this week, you can have him! He is driving me insane.

Don't get me wrong, I love my cat. He is very sweet and cuddly. He snuggles and has this really cute snotty sounding purr when he is really happy.

I have been trying to monitor how much he eats because he is starting to get a little heavy and has a kitty belly. According to the new bag of food, he should be getting about 3/4 - 1 cup of food a day. SO....I am using a 1/4 measuring cup and feeding him 3 times a day. Well, that was the plan, he's getting fed about 4 times a day because he keeps whining. When I say whining, please translate that to mean - caterwauling, jumping on top of me, trying to get into his food in the kitchen, and doing things he knows he isn't supposed to do. I'm sure you know what I mean if you have children. He does that thing where they think any attention is good attention. Chewie's particular bag of tricks includes chewing on my shelves, chewing on the metal handle that opens my window, licking my pictures that are accessible to him when he squeezes his head in a drawer, etc.

He does this, like clockwork, at 5 AM in the morning.....every day. I am trying to not "reward" him when he is being a pain so I have to wait until he shuts up for at least 2 minutes before I feed him. At 5 AM, those minutes seem to last forever. Why can't he be good like his brother, Tigger?

Object of Joy Part 1

Today I received my new object of joy, this BEAUTIFUL signed jersey. For those of you that aren't familiar with Liquigas, it's a cycling team from Italy. This jersey was signed while at the Tour of California this year. The riders on the team were: Ivan Basso, Kjell Carlstrom, Francesco Chicchi, Daniel Oss, Jacopo Guarnieri, Vincenzo Nibali, Brian Vandborg, and Alessandro Vanotti. Thanks to Rory for helping me out on this one.

I was pretty bummed that once again, I would be missing the Tour of California. Of course they started the ToC AFTER I moved. What's up with that? I was even more disappointed because a few days before the ToC started, I found out that the Tour of Missouri isn't going through Branson this year. BOOO I don't get to help organize the Branson leg of the ToM, the thing I have looked forward to for the past two years. That also means I don't get to see the riders/teams AND that my trying to learn Italian is pointless (seeing as there aren't any Italians out here).

The ToC was a great race this year. The crowds were INSANE! I suppose part of me was a little relieved that I didn't have to deal with those crowds. I don't like when people walk right through me...it tends to tick me off. I loved watching it on the VS channel each day and reading the different blogs and seeing the pictures. It helped me keep up with things and I didn't feel like I was missing as much, or so I kept telling myself.

That being said, the jersey wipes all of my complaining away. =) Now I just need to figure out a good way to frame it. I have found a few great ideas but they are pretty spendy.
